With Prime Minister Indira Gandhi

New Delhi, 1948. In the city we call home, a young entrepreneur with a vision laid the foundations for the flourishing global business we see today. Ripu Daman Bhagat was still only 27, but his determination drove his dream.
Seeing opportunity where others saw challenges, he was quick to capitalise on the potential of organised tours in a newly partitioned India, founding Mercury Travels that same year. It was an idea with mileage (no pun intended) - the business grew into what is now one of India's most respected travel brands.
His friend and co-founder was a certain Mohan Singh Oberoi - a name now synonymous with luxury hospitality. Naturally, Mohan invited him to become one of the founding subscribers to the newly floated East India Hotels Ltd, now the holding company of The Oberoi Group.
Ripu, however, never stood still. While his friend pursued the hotel business, he saw opportunity in other sectors. And so, in 1959, the BI Group was born, with a burgeoning publishing business among its new success stories. Further verticals followed - hospitality, notably, was one of them (those early days in travel served him well).
65 years on, the company he established continues to set new standards - not only in hospitality, but also media, education, and now real estate, where the Oberoi connection comes full circle in the first-of-its-kind Trident Residences.
Guided by the wisdom of decades in business, we operate with integrity and deliver to the letter - always with an uncompromising commitment to quality. Whatever the sector, we strive to ensure the experience of working with us, and our impact, is nothing less than superlative.
It's a legacy of excellence that began with one man's dedication, and continues under the leadership of his family to this day.
